President’s Message                                                                                  Sue Wassermann

We’re called the Nature Coast for good reasons.  The Crystal River Preserve State Park, Crystal River Archeological State Park, and Yulee Sugar Mill Ruins Historic State Park are three of those reasons.  They have a very active Friends of the Crystal River State Parks volunteer organization that helps maintain trails, facilitate tours, and support all sorts of projects at the parks.  They’re always looking for more volunteers, so take a look at https://friendsofthecrystalriverstateparks.wildapricot.org if you’d like to donate your time or money.

Recently the Friends held a ribbon cutting at the Mullet Hole Kayak Launch.  This new launch provides access for novice or experienced paddlers to enjoy fresh water springs, brackish mixed water, and the salty Gulf of Mexico.

Coming soon is their Lunch with an Archeologist: Thursday, March 31, 11-1.  Bring a bag lunch and join the informal gathering.  Regular Archeological State Park admission applies, and donations are always appreciated.

And remember that each month on the Friday closest to the full moon is the Moon over the Mounds.  Next one is 7PM on April 14—reservation required, $10 donation requested.  See the Friends’ website for additional details and to make your reservations.

Bingo nights are getting very popular!  Over $80 winning hands seems to be the norm now.  Four sets of winners had to split the pot, and one lucky player got to keep it all.  Please RSVP even if you’re not having dinner so we can have enough tables and chairs ready for you.

If you’d like to see a replay of the meeting, it’s available on YouTube.  You will not be able to search for it, but you can view it on YouTube by going to https://tinyurl.com/PRCA2022-03.

P.S. Since I’m a candidate for the PRPOA BOD, we’ll need a new Civic Association President in April if I’m elected to one of the 3 available seats.  Please consider stepping up to lead our group.  All other Civic Board positions are available as well.

P.P.S. The next Adopt A Highway pickup will be at 8AM on Saturday April 2.  No foolin’
