Pine Ridge is comprised of nearly 5000 properties, and over 3200 residents (some of whom own multiple properties).  In April’s Pine Ridge Property Owners Association (PRPOA) Board of Directors election, less than 1500 ballots were cast.  That’s good news and bad news.  The good news is that the number of ballots cast is up.  That uptick is largely because of the new convenience of online voting, and may also be in part because more properties are occupied and fewer are owned by investors but is.  The bad news is that we still have over half of our neighbors who don’t officially take part in the Property Owners Association. If you submitted your ballot, THANK YOU!!  The best way we can influence our POA is by actively taking part in elections and meetings.  If you did not vote, please tell me why.  I’m sure that you have opinions about the Board’s decisions and how your Association fees are spent.  What could be done to ensure you cast your vote next year?

Speaking of active participation:  We still need volunteers for the Civic Association Board of Directors.  We need a Vice President—primary duty is to coordinate the speakers for each meeting.  We also need a PREV (PR Entertainment Volunteer) chairperson—primary duties are to take reservations for monthly bingo games and/or dinner and ensure we provide enough food and tables for attendees.  PREV also coordinates any special events and parties.  Louise is willing to continue to provide guidance, she just needs a break from being the primary contact.  We also need a few new Directors—primary duty is to represent the membership and provide additional insight and opinions at Board meetings.  We welcome any Civic member to attend our BoD meetings held the last Monday of the month at 1:30 in the PR Treasurer’s office.  In May, though, we’ll meet 1 week early, on May 24.

Big thanks and a hearty welcome to the newest member of our BoD, Liz Valinoti.  She’s pairing up with Wendy Walters to take on the Treasurer’s duties.  Wendy and her husband Al Gale are snowbirds from Montana, so it makes sense to share the responsibility with someone here over the summer.

9AM, Saturday May 1: meet at the PR Community Center parking lot for our quarterly Adopt A Highway litter pickup.  It’s getting hot, so wear a hat and sunscreen and stay hydrated
7PM, Monday May 10th: meeting will feature a speaker from the Citrus County Library System.  More than just books.  We’ll also hear from Maggie Case about Pickleball in Pine Ridge.
6PM, Saturday May 15: The return of Bingo.  BYO food and drink, we’ll provide ice.  We’ll have only 6 people per table and masks are required.  RSVP to me, Sue, via text, phone call, voicemail at 352-300-0890 , or email president@civic.pineridgeassn.com.
